Bob Wolfe
Bio
Coach Wolfe is a native of Goldsboro, NC where he graduated from Goldsboro High School. After high school, he became a Math major at Duke University and graduated in 1974 with a B.S. in Math. Coach Wolfe also holds a Master's degree in Math Education from East Carolina University.
Beginning his career as a football coach in1970 at Duke University as a graduate assistant. Wolfe later became and assistant coach at Enloe High School and Goldsboro High School. Coach Wolfe got his first opportunity to be a head football coach at Kinston High School. He then had stops at Laney High School where he served as head football coach and athletic director, Eastern Wayne High School as an assistant football coach and Apex High School as head football coach and assistant athletic director. Coach Wolfe retired from teaching and coaching from Apex High School in 2012 as the all-time winningest football coaching in Apex history. Two years ago, Coach Green lured Wolfe to Green Hope and out of retirement by offering the opportunity to continue to develop players, have fun and work with some old friends that were already on staff at Green Hope. Wolfe coaches because he enjoys working with young people and helping them learn and mature as people and young men. Coach also loves the thrill of competition and the challenges of building a team. Coach Wolfe has been blessed with having coached many college and pro football players throughout his career but enjoys coaching and mentoring players of all abilities. In the off season, Coach Wolfe spends a few months every year in Aspen, Colorado where he is an aspiring ski instructor. |
John Schmittle
BioCoach Schmittle is from the Raleigh area and graduated from Leesville Road High School. Schmittle played at Leesville for Coach Green and began coaching for him at Enloe for 2 years and has been at Green Hope for the past 2 years.
Being certified in Aviation Systems Technology, Schmittle is employed at RDU and comes to Green Hope to coach after work everyday. At Green Hope, Schmittle is a varsity offensive line coach and also coordinates the offense for JV. Having played football since he was 7years old, Schmittle has a passion for the game which he hopes to instill in his players. |
Michael James
Bio
Coach James is a native of Kannapolis, NC and attended Western Carolina University where he played football and graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education.
Coach James has experience running the strength and conditioning programs at Richmond County High School, Crest High School and John Holmes High School in Edenton, NC. He was also an offensive line coach at Richmond, Crest, Holmes and Clayton. While at Richmond and Holmes, Coach James had the opportunity to work under one of the best strength and offensive line coaches in the state, Paul Hoggard. While coaching at Crest High School, James helped win a state title. Coach James came to Green Hope to be part of something great. He also wanted the opportunity to build positive relationships with student-athletes here. |
Kenric Barnes
BioCoach Barnes came to Green Hope last year and coached JV running backs. This year Barnes is making the move to Varsity running backs coach.
Barnes played quarterback, receiver, safety and linebacker during his playing career at Highland Tech from 2011 to 2015. With coaching experience as a summer assistant at Highland for two years and one year coaching at Green Hope, Barnes is already a well rounded coach. Coach Barnes coaches for the love of the game and the opportunity to help young men grow and learn life lessons that will help them outside football. Coach Barnes is a recent NC State graduate and holds a BS in Civil Engineering. |
Ty Norwood
BioCoach Norwood is a native of Greensboro, NC where he graduated from Ragsdale High School. His father was the longtime Head Football Coach at Southeast Guilford and Ragsdale and is currently the Head Football Coach at St. James High School in South Carolina.
Coach Norwood attended Appalachian State University where he was a student assistant football coach and graduated with a degree in Physical Education. Coach Norwood comes to Green Hope from Southern Guilford High School after serving as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach for the last two years and previously served as the JV Head Coach and JV Offensive Play Caller. He has also been the Varsity Head Coach, JV Head Coach, and Varsity assistant coach for Southern Guilford's baseball program. Coach Norwood also has stops at Ragsdale High School where he served as the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach and at Northeastern Randolph Middle School as a PE/Health teacher. Coach Norwood enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and going to the beach. He and his wife Morgan, have a 17-month-old daughter, Olivia and two dogs, Stella-Grace and Barrett. |
Mason Nagel
Bio
Coach Nagel is a native of Buffalo, New York. He moved to North Carolina as a teenager. Nagel graduated from Green Hope in 2013 where he played football all four years. Having coached defensive line for both JV and varsity the past five years, Nagel is focusing on the varsity defensive line this year.
Coach Nagel graduated from NC State University with a B.S. in Human Biology and is employed as an EMT. Nagel is currently planning to enter medical school this winter. Owing his work ethic to football, Nagel hopes to imbue the same in his players. Nagel wants to give back to a program that gave him so much and to pass on the tradition of Green Hope Football to another group of athletes. |
Bryce McCulley
BioCoach McCulley, aka Coach Mac, is a native of Graham, North Carolina graduating from Southern Alamance High School in 2015. Mac grew up playing football since the age of 7 where he developed a passion for the game. Coach McCulley primarily coached the JV defensive line last year and will continue in that role for the 2019 season. His goal is to develop and prepare his JV defensive line for Varsity.
Mac currently attends NC State University majoring in Secondary Education and minoring in Coaching. Mac coaches at Green Hope to build relationships with the players and hopes to have a positive impact on their lives. Coach Mac wants to develop players as athletes but also as people to help student-athletes achieve their dreams. Mac believes football instills a spirit of toughness and teaches student-athletes to how to overcome and never give up. He hopes to make teaching and coaching football his career upon graduating from NC State. |
Andre StarksBio
Coach Starks, was a professional American football nose tackle for the Paderborn Dolphins of the German Football League. He played college football at Missouri Valley College in 2004, then transferred to Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee in 2006. In 2010 Starks was a member of the Saarland Hurricanes of the GFL and lead his team to the League championship. In 2011 he signed a 2 day waiver with the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football League then also by the New Yorker Lions of the GFL. In 2012 Starks was signed to play for the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the Indoor Football League. A year later he was signed with the San Angelo Bandits of the Long Star Football League in 2013
Coach Starks later spent 2 years coaching in Germany and has since moved the the Raleigh Durham area. Starks comes to Green Hope with hopes to instill his hard working attitude and wishes to inspire players with his passion for football. Coach Starks wants his players to understand that with hard work and dedication you can achieve anything. |
Jason Furrie
Coach Furrie is a native of the Youngstown area of Ohio. Furrie attended The Ohio State University and Youngstown State University where he graduated with a degree in Social Studies Education. He also has a Master's degree in Athletic Administration from UNCP.
Coach Furrie came to Green Hope with 24 years experience coaching football. He came from Western Harnett High School after serving as the Head Football Coach. Furrie also served as the Head Coach at Union Pines High School and has served in the capacity of various position coaches and/or has coordinated both sides of the ball at Lowellville High School in Ohio, Lee County High School and Jack Britt High School. He has also been an assistant wrestling coach at Western Harnett High School. Coach Furrie has also worked as a teacher in South Korea, North Moore High School, East Lee Middle School, Union Pines High School, Jack Britt High School and Western Harnett High School. Coach Furrie and his wife Trisha of 24 years, have a daughter, Paige, who is a graduating Senior at UNCW, a son, Cole, who graduated from Green Hope in 2019, and a 2nd daughter, Bella, who is a rising 8th grader. He also has a loving Pitt Bull, Luna, and a bi-polar, elderly cat, Garfield. |
Martin GordonBio
Coach Martin is from the Raleigh area and graduated from Leesville Road High School. Gordon played at Leesville for Coach Green and began coaching for him at Enloe for 2 years and has been at Green Hope for the past 2 years.
Gordon has coached receivers, running backs and corners the past 2 years at Green Hope. He is making the move to inside linebackers this year. Coach Gordon is also the Falcon special teams coordinator. Coach Gordon has a true passion for the game of football and loves being able to work with young adults while coaching them in a sport he loves. To Gordon, football is more than just a game, it teaches valuable life lessons student-athletes will use the rest of their lives. |

Thomas Zemonek
Bio
Coach Zemonek is a native of Cary, North Carolina and a 2016 graduate of Green Hope High School. Zemonek played football all four years at Green Hope and is new to the the staff this year coaching the JV Secondary.
Zemonek is currently attending NC State University majoring in business management with a concentration in Information Technology with plans of a career in Law Enforcement after graduation. Coaches main reason for joining the staff this year is to give back to the program that made him the person that he is today. Zemonek’s goal is to instill good character and morals in his players. |
